New Orleans, LA
Jason and I were able to take a trip away, just the two of us, for the first time since we've been married! My Mom took care of the girls for a few days and J and I made our way to New Orleans. We seriously had the time of our lives!
On our way, we drove through Mobile, AL. Just the day before (Christmas Day) we had some terrible storms roll through and there was a tornado that ripped through Mobile. How crazy is this cloud formation?!
We had a pretty amazing sunset that evening. This is over Lake Pontchartrain, LA:
After checking in our hotel, we spent the evening on Bourbon Street. It was packed with people and super cold but we had a blast! First, we stopped in at Fritzel's Jazz Pub. It was cool but the drinks were pricey.
Most of the bars on Bourbon Street run a Happy Hour special of 3 for 1. This is not a challenge! I repeat, this is not a challenge! We ended up at Bourbon Street Blues Bar. Things start to get a little fuzzy here.
Bourbon Street-1 vs. Nicole-0!
Up early Thursday morning to do some sightseeing.
With our hotel package we received gift certificates to the famous Cafe Du Monde. It was super busy but were enjoyed our cafe au lait and beignets.
After breakfast we headed over to St. Louis Cathedral. Amazing!
We walked around Jackson Square and along the Mississippi River:
J made some new friends:
After Lunch at Muriel's, we headed off on a carriage ride (both were included in our hotel package.)
We made our way all around the French Quarter over to Canal Street and then back to the French Market Place.
After lunch we headed back to the hotel before we were heading out to tackle Bourbon Street again that evening.
First stop: Pizza
Then customary photo with "Bronze Cowboy Statue Guy"
It's Zoltar (you know, from the movie Big?!)
And to finish up our evening: A fire at the World Famous Big Daddy's
Score tonight: Bourbon St-1 vs Jason-0
Friday morning, we packed up and headed home. It was so nice to getaway - just the two of us! It was great to just relax and let loose for once! Hoping that we will be making our way back to NOLA again soon!
